Plastic Free July Challenge | Day 25

Day 25 of the Plastic Free July Challenge

99% of all the toothbrushes in the world are made from plastic. And about 1 billion plastic toothbrushes are used and trashed each year in the USA. (Source)

Once they reach landfills, they will take about 1000 years to degrade and will never fully biodegrade.

They’ll just degrade into smaller microplastics which are dangerous to us and our wildlife. And when entering the ocean, they can even be mistaken for animals.

Try to go for compostable ones. I bought my bamboo toothbrush with bristles made of charcoal in my locality.

If you couldn’t able to get a complete compostable one, don’t go for the nylon bristles. At least try to go for Plant-based bristles like this one from EarthHero!
